Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
237 AM EST Sun Feb 8 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Northwest winds will subside this evening. A clipper
may bring a light dusting of snow to portions of SE West Virginia
and SW Virginia today but overall mainly dry conditions are
expected into early next week. Temperatures look to warm up across
the area, which will help to melt some of the snow and ice across
the region. We get into an active pattern from Wednesday into
next weekend, but low confidence on timing and the potential for
wintry weather by Thursday into Friday. Low fire weather concerns
continue across the area given the widespread snow cover.
