Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
214 PM EDT Wed Mar 11 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Increasing moisture today ahead of an approaching cold front.
0.25" to 0.50" storm total through Thursday morning.

By the end of the work week, the potential for fire danger is
expected to increase as winds and temperatures rebound on Friday.
Southwest sinds could gust between 25 to 35 mph. Combine this
with minimum RH values in the 20s, and fuels will dry very quickly
across the region. These conditions may lead to adverse fire
behavior on Friday and Saturday as RHs remain low both days.
Moisture begins to increase by Sunday, and RHs trend upwards.
