.DISCUSSION...

...FIRE DANGER STATEMENT IN EFFECT FOR VIRGINIA AND NORTH CAROLINA...

Today will be drier as RH values drop to 10 to 20 percent east
of the mountains and 20 to 25 percent in the mountains. Winds
will also remain elevated out of the northwest, with gusts in
the 20-25 mph range for much of the area. Some ridge lines across
the mountain zones may see gusts up to 30 mph through the
afternoon hours today.

Given the conditions mentioned above, and the underlying dry
conditions over the last month or so, a Fire Danger Statement
has been issued for Virginia and North Carolina today.

The rest of the week appears mostly dry, with temps warming up
after Tuesday back to above normal values. Northwest winds 10-15
mph, gusting 20-25 mph will enhance the risk of wildfire
potential.

Will be fairly dry the rest of the week, with any showers being
widely scattered in the mountains. Next "better" coverage may be
next weekend with a front.
