Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
104 PM EST Tue Feb 10 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Warm and mostly dry conditions are expected through the remainder
of the work week, with some rain chances for mountain locations
and into the NC Piedmont expected later today and into Wednesday
morning. Overall new rainfall totals are expected to be minimal
with this system, with better rainfall chances expected by this
weekend, especially on Sunday.

Gusty west winds this afternoon, turn northwesterly but remain
gusty Wednesday, which will contribute to drying and lowering
RH's by Wednesday afternoon. However, with high temperatures
expected to be above freezing this week, significant melting
areawide is expected. This should increase soil moisture and leave
behind moist ground cover across the region as it does melt.
Given these conditions, there are no fire weather concerns at this
time.
