Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
201 PM EST Fri Feb 13 2026

.DISCUSSION...
...Dry today and Saturday...
...Wetting rain Sunday into Sunday night...

High pressure was centered over the Ohio Valley and Lower Great
Lakes. This feature will drift overhead during the next 24 hours
promoting strong subsidence and drying before moving offshore.
Northwest winds may still exhibit some gustiness this afternoon but
then go calm at sunset as the pressure gradient fades. Look for
humidity minimums in the 20-30% range this afternoon and again
Saturday afternoon...with temperatures a little warmer tomorrow
as opposed to today.

Clouds will be on the increase Saturday with high confidence for
wetting rain by early Sunday. Areawide rainfall amounts ranging
from 0.75 to 1.25 are expected as low pressure passes across the
southern Appalachians.
