Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
416 AM EDT Sat Apr 25 2026

.DISCUSSION...
Clouds will increase through the morning, with an approaching
cold front triggering showers and a few thunderstorms across
the mountains during the afternoon, and across the Piedmont
from mid-afternoon into this evening. Nearly all of the lower
Mid-Atlantic will receive wetting rainfall by this evening,
though totals for most will remain around 0.25 inch or less.
Humidity will remain above 40 percent west of the Blue Ridge
this afternoon given the arrival of cloudcover, but is
forecasted to fall below 30 percent across the Piedmont given
longer opportunity for sunshine and heating before showers and
a few storms arrive.

Additional showers and a few thunderstorms are forecasted for
Tuesday and Wednesday as another low pressure system passes
across the region.
