Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
247 AM EDT Mon Jul 27 2026

.DISCUSSION...

After a start to the day with patchy fog around the region,
we are expecting a day with more sun than clouds and with
no precipitation. Showers and storms return to mainly
southeast West Virginia and neighboring portions of
southwest Virginia late tonight. On Tuesday, coverage is
possible throughout the day, but the best chances will be
during the afternoon and evening. Some of the showers and
storms could have strong to damaging winds. Drier weather
returns for the remainder of the workweek before showers
and storms return to the forecast for the weekend.

Rainfall amounts late Monday night through Tuesday evening
are expected to range from around one-tenth of an inch
to three-quarters of an inch. Locally heavier rain is
expected under the heavier storms.
