Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA

.DISCUSSION...

Today, a slight cooling period will commence, with
temperatures in the Mountains expected to be in the low to mid 80s,
and Piedmont locations likely remaining in the mid to upper 90s.
This will mean heat index values will peak in the low 90s
across the mountains, and the low 100s across the Piedmont.
Each day the region looks to cool by a few degrees, which will
bring temperatures back to seasonal values for this time of the
year.

Increasing chances for showers and thunderstorms beginning
today and into next week may cause issues with lightning-
started fires.
