Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
222 PM EDT Wed Apr 29 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Rain showers will increase in coverage through this afternoon, and
some strong to severe storms are possible today. Drier and breezy
conditions are expected Thursday and Friday, with minimum RH's in
the 30 to 40% range, but after the wetting rainfall today, along
with continued greenup will limit fire concerns.

Another round of rain will be possible late Friday night through
Saturday, with greater chances and higher rainfall amounts south
of the VA/NC state line. Cooler temperatures follow by Sunday
morning. Fire concerns continue to look limited through this
coming weekend and into the beginning of next week.
