Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
348 AM EST Mon Mar 2 2026

.DISCUSSION...

A low pressure system will bring wintry mix mainly to mountain
locations today, with a cold rain for the remainder of the
forecast area before ending as all rain for the region on
Tuesday morning. Upper level ridging building over the southeast
Tuesday night into Wednesday will bring much warmer temperatures
to the region from Wednesday into the weekend, with isolated
shower and thunderstorm chances Thursday through Saturday.
While it does get warmer across the region, moisture will similarly
increase with southerly/southwesterly winds. This will keep RH values
from dropping to concerning levels across the region during this
warmer period. At this time, there are no fire weather concerns.
