Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
410 AM EDT Tue Apr 28 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Several opportunities for rain exist over the next 5 days, which
will help aid in reducing fire concerns. Widespread rainfall amounts
of 0.50" to 0.75" likely, with locally higher amounts possible
through Wednesday.

Overall, with increased rain chances and elevated RH values this
week, the threat for fire weather concerns has diminished across
the area; however, if a long spell of dry weather occurs across
the area, these concerns could return.
