Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
222 AM EST Fri Feb 13 2026

.DISCUSSION...
...Dry today and Saturday...
...Wetting rain Sunday...

High pressure was centered over the Ohio Valley and Lower Great
Lakes. This feature will drift overhead during the next 24 hours
promoting strong subsidence and drying. Northwest winds may
still exhibit some gustiness today but then go calm at sunset as
the pressure gradient fades. Look for humidity minimums in the
20-30% range this afternoon...temperatures near the seasonal norm
for mid-February.

Clouds will be on the increase Saturday with high confidence
for wetting rain Sunday. Rainfall amounts ranging from 0.75
to 1.25 are expected as Low pressure passes across the southern
Appalachians.
