Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
302 AM EST Wed Nov 5 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Southwest winds will gradually increase through the mid morning
hours today Ahead of a dry frontal passage. These winds are expected
to reach gusts of 25 to 35 mph by the early afternoon and evening hours
across most of the area, and especially higher ridges.
RH values are expected to drop into the low 30s this afternoon, with
locally lower values where boundary layer mixing is maximized allowing for
dry air aloft to mix down to the surface. High pressure works in Thursday
then we will see a good chance of wetting rain Friday night. Given the dry
and windy conditions today, a Fire Danger Statement has been issued for much
of the area except SE West Virginia.
