National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
229 PM EDT Thu Jul 9 2026

.DISCUSSION...
Seasonably warm and humid conditions expected through
Friday with scattered afternoon and evening showers
and thunderstorms. Rainfall coverage will be hit and miss
with rainfall amounts generally a quarter inch or less.
There will be some localized amounts upwards of one inch
associated with the stronger thunderstorms. Isolated wind
damage is also possible.

Greater coverage of showers and thunderstorms is likely for the
weekend with the passage of a cold front. Somewhat drier
conditions follow the frontal passage for the beginning of next
week, along with a few days of below normal temperatures.
After that, thing warm back up for the end of the week with
a return to seasonably warm temperatures.
