Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
306 AM EST Sun Jan 11 2026

.DISCUSSION...
Widespread wetting rainfall occurring on Saturday will help keep
fire weather concerns low through the week. For today, A fast-
moving upper level disturbance will pass across the lower
Mid-Atlantic, resulting in strong northwest winds and upslope
snow showers that will impact the mountains the most. Dry weather
under mostly clear skies and reduced wind speeds will arrive for
Monday through Wednesday, followed by the potential for mountain
snow on Thursday.
