Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
244 AM EDT Thu Jul 23 2026

.DISCUSSION...

The stalled frontal boundary that was draped across the 460
corridor today has now made it south of the VA/NC border. While
showers are still ongoing across the VA/NC border counties, these
showers and storms are expected to continue to move out of the
area by the mid morning hours on Thursday. A couple of mostly
dry and cool days are on tap across the region, with only isolated
to scattered chances for showers and thunderstorms expected across
primarily mountain locations starting late Friday into Saturday.
Overall, the area has seen enough wetting rains to limit any
fire weather concerns across the region.
