Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
228 AM EDT Tue Jun 2 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible this afternoon
along and west of the Blue Ridge, but rain totals look to remain
a tenth of an inch or less. Minimum RHs will be highest today, in
the 40 to 50% range, highest in the mountains. Wednesday and
through the end of the week, minimum RHs will fall to 30 to 40%
as a dry airmass pushes into the region.

High pressure will remain over the region into the weekend,
promoting dry and quiet weather, though temperatures will rise
into the 80s and 90s late in the week. Moisture increases over
the area by the weekend, and the next chance for precipitation
comes Sunday/Monday.
