Heat Persists in the Southwest; Elevated to Critical Fire Weather in the Great Basin; Poor Air Quality in the West

Dangerous heat will persist across the Southwest U.S. through this week, easing by next week. The heat will focus further east in the Great Plains and Mississippi Valley beginning next week. .DISCUSSION...
Unsettled weather will continue through the remainder of this 
week with scattered showers and thunderstorms each day, 
primarily during the afternoon. The air mass will remain humid
with relative humidity values staying elevated. Winds should
remain rather light except in stronger thunderstorms. Due to 
the abundant moisture and prolonged chances of rain, fire weather
concerns will remain low.
