Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
230 AM EDT Wed Sep 16 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Drier weather expected through at today with
lower humidity. Temperatures increase to above normal through the
week, and moisture gradually trends higher, though afternoon
mixing will keep minimum RH values in the upper 30s to lower 40s
percent range east of the mountains, and mid 40 to low 50 percent
range west of the Blue Ridge mountains through at least the
middle of the week.

An increasing chance of rain, along with more humid
conditions will return for late week and into the weekend;
however, rain chances will remain low at this time, with no
significant upper level feature forecast to bring widespread
rain. Continued dry and hot conditions may increase fire weather
concerns without a substantial wetting rain over the coming
weeks.
