Meanwhile, dangerous heat will intensify across the Desert Southwest and Intermountain West. Hot, dry weather and increasing winds will allow elevated wildfire conditions to return to the northern Intermountain West, where air quality issues persist from ongoing fires. Read More >

Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC

.DISCUSSION...
Unsettled weather will continue this week with scattered showers
and thunderstorms each day, primarily during the afternoons and
evenings. The air mass will remain humid with relative humidity
values staying elevated. Winds should remain rather light for much
of the area except in stronger thunderstorms. There may be a few
instances of wind gusts between 20-35 mph along and west of the
Blue Ridge later in the week due to passing low level jets. Due to
the abundant moisture and prolonged chances of rain, fire weather
concerns will remain low.
