Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
315 AM EDT Mon Jul 20 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Scattered showers and thunderstorms look to continue in the
forecast through Wednesday, with more widespread shower and
thunderstorm activity expected Tuesday afternoon and evening
with the passage of a cold front. A moist and humid airmass looks
to hang around through Wednesday, with surface high pressure
advecting much drier air into the region Wednesday night into
Thursday. While minimum RH values don't look to change much
during the afternoon hours due to cooler temperatures, the
dewpoints across the region look to fall into the upper 50s to
low 60s areawide. Overall, there are no major fire weather concerns
at this time with the current moist airmass over the region.
