Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
353 AM EDT Wed May 20 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Arrival and passage of a cold front will trigger showers and
some thunderstorms during the afternoon and evening today.

Forecast rainfall amounts through Friday range from half
an inch to an inch, which will be beneficial for the area,
and may lead to some improvements in the ongoing dryness,
and thus could reduce the overall fire weather
threat across the area heading into the warmer months.
