Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
317 AM EDT Tue May 26 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Due to the stalled front across the area, fire weather will
continue to be aided by daily wetting rainfall. Light winds
are forecast, with heavy cloud cover through Wednesday night.
Additional rainfall of 0.50-1.00" is expected, with some areas
potentially seeing several inches of rain under the heaviest
thunderstorms. Drier conditions move back in Thursday into the
weekend, though wet grounds will continue to keep any fire
danger threat low. Winds increase briefly Thursday, with gusts
of 15-20 mph possible.
