Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
209 PM EDT Thu Jul 23 2026

.DISCUSSION...

A frontal boundary will remain situated over the Carolinas through
the weekend, and easterly flow will keep moisture across the
southern half of the area, though some drier air is working its way
into northern portions of the area. Showers will be confined mostly
south of the area today, but a few stray showers may develop over
the mountains later. Chances for scattered showers and possible
storms increase Friday and continue through the weekend, with the
highest chances over the mountains. Plenty of cloud cover for the
next day or two and cooler air will keep temperatures below normal
through the weekend. Overall, fire weather concerns are little to
none at this time.
