Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
216 AM EDT Wed Jun 3 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Temperatures look to increase steadily through the end of the
work week, with very warm temperatures in the 80s/90s expected
by Friday across the mountains/Piedmont respectively. While
temperatures look to increase, surface high pressure looks to
remain overhead of the region leading to predominantly light winds
across the area. Dry conditions will also linger areawide until
Sunday when a cold front is expected to dip south into the region.
This will bring the areas next chance for precipitation. Overall,
there are no huge fire weather concerns at this time, although
with hot dry conditions in place, fuels will dry out quickly through
the end of the week.
