Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
224 PM EDT Wed Aug 12 2026

.DISCUSSION...

A moist airmass accompanied by daily chances for
showers and thunderstorms through early next
week will keep any fire weather concerns to a minimum.
Upper level ridging is expected to nudge east by the weekend
which may reduce shower and thunderstorm coverage; however,
isolated to scattered chances are still forecast across
mountain locations, with the aforementioned moist airmass
remaining in place areawide.
