.DISCUSSION... 

Northwesterly winds through late afternoon will gust from between 
20 mph across the Piedmont, to locally as high as 35 mph across 
the mountains, particularly along the mountain ridges. Sunshine 
intermixed with passing clouds and downsloping with allow RH 
values to fall into the 20 to 25 percent range across the 
foothills and Piedmont of northern North Carolina through Friday. 
With temperatures again rising above freezing nearly areawide 
today, lingering snow cover will go through another round of 
melting this afternoon, with refreeze tonight. The next chance of
rain comes Sunday into Monday.
