Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
224 PM EDT Wed Sep 9 2026

.DISCUSSION...

On Thursday into Friday morning, a cold front will head south
across the region, bringing a return of showers and storms to the
area, especially western and northern sections. The front then
stalls over parts of VA and NC before heading north as a warm
front over the weekend. An additional disturbance aloft arrives
over the weekend, helping to maintain showers and storms.
Temperatures through the period will be above normal to near
normal for this time of year. There are currently no fire weather
concerns.
