Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
256 PM EDT Thu Apr 30 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Drier and breezy conditions are expected today and Friday, with minimum RH in
the 30 to 40 percent range, but after recent wetting rainfall,
along with continued greenup will limit fire concerns.

Another round of rain will be possible late Friday night through
Saturday, with greater chances and higher rainfall amounts south
of the VA/NC state line. Cooler temperatures follow by Sunday
morning. Fire concerns continue to look limited through this
coming weekend and into the beginning of next week.
