Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
236 PM EDT Wed Jun 10 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Elevated moisture across the area will lead to several days of
scattered showers and thunderstorms. These scattered showers
and thunderstorms will bring much needed rainfall to the region;
however, widespread rainfall totals look to remain less than an
inch at this time.

Above normal temperatures can be expected Thursday through Sunday.
Warming temperatures will also lead to greater instability
and stronger thunderstorms (when they occur). Minimum RH values
do not look to decrease significantly Thursday through Friday; however,
a frontal boundary passage on Friday will lower Minimum RH values
into the low 30s through the weekend. While RH values will be low
on Saturday and Sunday, winds look to be quite benign with high pressure
forecast to be directly overhead through the weekend.
