.DISCUSSION... 

A Fire Danger Statement is in effect today for the Piedmont of 
North Carolina from Noon through 6 PM.

Dry air in place today under a mix of clouds and sunshine will cause 
relative humidity today to fall into the 20 to 25 percent range, 
with locally lower values along southward-facing ridges as 
temperatures this afternoon warm into the upper 30s to the low 40s. 
Winds today will gust to 25 mph at times from the southwest. A cold 
front will arrive on Saturday morning, bringing another round of 
snow showers to the mountains through the day, as well as relative 
humidity values above 40 percent.
