Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
225 AM EDT Wed Jul 22 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Widespread showers and thunderstorms continue today as a frontal
boundary stalls over the region. This will continue to make ground
leaf litter quite moist across the area, as well as maintain
cloudy conditions across much of the region. Any shower and
thunderstorm chance looks to be relegated to south of the VA
border on Thursday; however, chances slowly start to increase back
into Virginia by Friday and Saturday. Overall, there are only low
fire weather concerns at this time given the wetting rains
expected.
