Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
131 PM EST Sun Jan 11 2026

.DISCUSSION...
Fire weather concerns should stay generally low for the next
few days due to widespread wetting rainfall from Saturday. Gusty
northwest winds and mountain snow showers will continue this
evening into tonight. Colder air should arrive overnight and
linger into Monday, but drier weather will resume as high
pressure takes control for Monday and Tuesday. A low pressure
system will approach by late Wednesday into Thursday to bring
gusty northwest winds and snow showers. After a brief reprieve
on Friday, more mountain snow showers may return for the weekend.
