Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
228 PM EST Wed Dec 31 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Dry and mild east of the mountains today. Winds will increase
late morning and could gust up to 20MPH at times through
this afternoon.

The lowest afternoon relative humidity values should average
between 20% and 30% across the Virginia and North Carolina
Piedmonts Wednesday, with higher values farther west.

The lower RHs, dry conditions and mild temperatures
may result in some adverse fire behavior across the southern
Virginia and North Carolina Piedmont region.
