Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
314 AM EDT Thu Sep 17 2026

.DISCUSSION...

A warming trend is expected through the end of the week with
increasing humidity and a chance for showers and thunderstorms.
A cold front over the Great Lakes is forecast to move south and
stall over the region. This will bring daily opportunity for
scattered showers and thunderstorms through the upcoming weekend.

In spite of the hit and miss nature of the showers, the higher
dewpoints and humidity should mitigate fire concerns.
