Fire Weather Planning Forecast for SW VA...SE WV and NW NC
National Weather Service Blacksburg VA
234 PM EDT Tue May 12 2026

.DISCUSSION...

A cold front tracks through the area on Wednesday, bringing
scattered showers and thunderstorms. More dry weather to follow
for the end of the week, and by Friday, minimum RH's will generally be
between 20% to 35%, and above 40% for the mountains, as high
pressure settles in over the area. However, with the recent and
upcoming rainfall, there are no fire weather concerns at this
time.

Temperatures and humidity start reaching summer-like levels over
the weekend into early next week.
