.Overview...
An intense thunderstorm moved across southern Halifax
County, Virginia during the afternoon of September 4th. A tornado
formed within an area of straight-line damaging winds, touching
down just west of Cherry Hill Church Road, then traveling east of
and lifting before reaching Arthur Ware Trail. The tornado snapped
and uprooted 50-100 trees. The tornadic winds damaged the outer
wall of a modular home just below the roof line. The tornado
touched down at 451 PM, traveled just over a quarter of mile
and lifted at 452 PM.
