Although scattered showers/storms are possible this afternoon, they are expected to remain below severe criteria. The severe storm risk increases Wednesday as a cold front approaches the area. A Slight Risk is generally northwest of I-81, with a Marginal Risk elsewhere. Storms ahead of the front could produce damaging wind gusts, which is the main threat, though hail and isolated tornadoes are also possible, especially in West Virginia. The severe threat persists until the main line of storms and the cold front pass through late Wednesday night.
