Severe Storms and Flash Flooding Risk Today

Skywarn Spotter Class at Virginia Tech on Sep 17th

A cold front will move into the area this afternoon, causing scattered thunderstorms to develop, a few of which could be severe and produce damaging wind gusts. Localized flash flooding will also be possible where storms move repeatedly over the same area, especially in urban and low-lying areas. The front stalls across the area, keeping the flash flooding threat in place for Saturday.

Join us on Thursday, Sep. 17th, from 3 PM - 5 PM at Virginia Tech's Emergency Operations Center for Skywarn Spotter training. This fun and educational class is designed to teach you to safely observe & report severe weather in your area to the NWS. This class is free to attend and open to all. Hope to see you there!
