An area of showers and storms across the eastern Gulf continues to be monitored for tropical development over the next couple of days.. While it's too early to determine specifics and where this could head exactly, folks should pay close attention to this system. There is a 40% chance of tropical development within the next 7 days, and a 30% chance of development within the next 48 hours. Heavy rain across the eastern and northern Gulf Coast states, possibly bringing flash flooding, will be the thing to watch into early next week, regardless of tropical development.
