Atmospheric River to Begin to Impact the Northwest U.S.; Gusty Winds in the Northeast U.S.

A strong atmospheric river moving into northern California later Tuesday will bring a threat for moderate to heavy rainfall and flooding, gusty to high winds, and mountain snows for parts of the Northwest U.S. through at least Wednesday. A stagnant upper pattern will keep high pressure in place across the Southern Plains resulting in warm temperatures and little chance for rainfall. Highs will climb into the mid 80s by tomorrow through Friday. A weekend cold front is likely to knock temperatures back down closer to normal. No rainfall is expected in the next 7 days.
🎃 Here’s a look at October’s temperature and rainfall for the DFW and Waco climate sites. Temperatures ran above normal through most of the month, with Waco recording 18 days of highs at or above 90°F. As for rainfall, DFW picked up 4.75 inches for the month, with the majority falling over just two days (October 24–25).
