Another cold dreary winter day is on tap for the region today, with clouds sticking around and drizzle/light rain across portions of central Texas this afternoon. This evening and overnight tonight, drizzle and light rain will remain patchy, but become more widespread, particularly for areas along and south of I-20.
Sunday will not only usher in a new week, but a period of more seasonal weather across our area. There will still be a low chance (20 to 30 percent) for light rain Sunday morning east of I-35 and south of I-20. Any rain that lingers into the day on Sunday should end or move east by noon. From late morning through the afternoon hours, clouds will clear generally from west to east. As such, temperatures will warm into the 50s east of I-35, and into the 60s west of I-35. Clear and dry conditions Sunday night will help temperatures cool by 20 to 25 degrees, resulting in lows in the upper 30s and low 40s.
Temperatures will climb into the 70s by Monday, remaining above- normal through much of next week. A cold front will arrive mid-week, but a significant cool-down is not expected behind the front.
Join us this Saturday for our Denton County SKYWARN class. The class will be held in Denton, TX at 9 AM. The class is free and open to the public. For our class offerings in other counties, visit weather.gov/fwd/skywarnmap.
