Black ice will lead to hazardous driving conditions early this morning across much of North Texas, especially on bridges and overpasses. Rapid improvement to road conditions is expected by midday as temperatures climb into the 40s and 50s beneath sunny skies.
Highs will climb into the mid 40s to mid 50s this afternoon with warm southwesterly winds. This will aid in rapid melting of lingering snow and ice across North Texas. A dry cold front will arrive on Sunday which will reinforce the below normal temperatures in place.
Here are the preliminary January 9th-10th snowfall totals across the region. Snow totals may be slightly less than expected for some areas due to partial melting Thursday afternoon before the final round of snow. Areas along the Red River saw the highest totals, ranging from 5" to 8" on average. A few locations saw higher totals between 9" and 11". These snowfall totals are subject to change.
Below-normal temperatures can be expected through the midweek period following a reinforcing cold front on Sunday. Lows in the 20s and 30s with highs in the 40s and 50s will occur through Wednesday.
