The National Weather Service forecast office at Caribou in partnership with the National Weather Service forecast office at Gray, Maine will be sharing some climate information on our Facebook pages and Twitter accounts during the week of October 24-28, 2016.  The main purpose is to increase awareness of the climate tools that are available.  Here are some of the topics that we plan to discuss:

Topic 1: Climate vs Weather - This would be an educational tool to introduce the topic of climate.  Weather is what's going on at any one point in time, while climate refers to long term statistics.  We could post a few of the extremes for our areas (hot/cold/snowy/etc.).

Topic 2: NWS Climate Products - This focuses on the products the local NWS office provides.  Here we talk about CLI, CLM, F6, and identify our primary climate sites.

Topic 3: NOWData - This is one of the most useful and powerful tools but not widely known.  People can really drill the climate down to the local level.

Topic 4: Climate Drivers - What factors influence the weather in our area?  The mountains?  The ocean?  The westerlies?  How do these factors affect our weather?

Topic 5: CPC Outlooks - These need a thorough explanation on how to interpret them and can be a good finale to the week and preparation for winter.
