Severe Thunderstorms and Heavy Rain in the Southern U.S.; Snow in the Northern Rockies and Northern Plains

A storm system will shift from eastern Texas into the lower Mississippi Valley today with additional threats of severe thunderstorms and heavy to excessive rainfall which may bring flooding. Update: A Flood Watch remains in effect for parts of North and Northeast Texas through 3 pm. Additional rainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches, with isolated amounts up to 3 inches, could cause isolated flooding in some areas.
Update: A threat for heavy rain and flooding continues today, mainly this morning, across North Texas along and north of I-20. Severe storms with large hail, damaging winds, and a couple of tornadoes are also possible this afternoon, mainly south of I-20 and east of I-35.
Cool and sunny weather is expected for Thanksgiving Day. Friday will see increasing clouds, with rain returning for Saturday and Sunday. Highs will be mostly in the 60s to lower 70s.
