A strong storm system ("L") in the northern Plains will drag a cold front toward Arkansas Tuesday/Wednesday. Given well above normal temperatures/an unstable environment, severe storms (large hail, damaging wind, and isolated tornadoes) will be possible ahead of the front.
As May began, there was a huge difference in soil moisture across Arkansas. Very wet conditions were noted toward the Louisiana border given well above average rain in 2024. Across the northern/eastern counties, ground water was limited due to below average precipitation.
