Heat Continues Across the Southern Plains and Gulf Coast; Heavy Rainfall from the Tennessee Valley to Southeast on Friday

Hazardous heat will continue across the Southern Plains, Gulf Coast and Desert Southwest through the weekend. Additional heat will build into the Great Basin and Northern Plains this weekend. Hot temperatures up to 107 degrees are expected Thursday through Saturday across the Treasure Valley, Magic Valley, Upper Weiser River, and Malheur County. The hottest day is expected to be Friday. Hot temperatures will impact anyone without effective cooling and/or adequate hydration, and may cause heat illnesses, especially for the young, elderly, and animals.
An air quality alert has been issued by the Oregon and Idaho Departments of Environmental Quality. Smoke from area wildfires will reduce air quality today. Reduce time outside if possible.
