Significant Coastal Impacts to the Eastern Seaboard; Hurricane Nolo to Impact Hawaii

A Nor'easter will bring significant coastal impacts to the Mid-Atlantic and New England through the weekend. Moderate to major coastal flooding, heavy rain, strong winds and high surf expected. Hurricane Nolo is expected to stay just south of the Big Island of Hawaii. Low Potential for Severe Storms Tomorrow Evening
A complex weather system early next week is anticipated, and although it has the chance to bring more rain to the region, there are many uncertainties that will impact the forecast. A low pressure system will move across the Southwestern US on Monday and Tuesday, and as this happens, moisture will be drawn back to the Panhandles and rain chances will increase. However, the track, speed, strength, and timing of the low pressure system will impact our rain chances, the timing of the rain chances, and the amount of rain that falls. As of today, there is a good chance (50-70%) for multiple rounds of rain from Monday through Tuesday night. Again, details will change, so check back for updates.

Additional showers and thunderstorms will continue to move across the region overnight. This will bring heavy rainfall that may result in localized flooding, gusty winds up to 55mph and frequent lightning.

There is a 5% chance of severe thunderstorms Saturday. These storms would be very isolated and could produce hail up to 1" and winds up to 60 mph. Sunday through Monday will be sunny and dry with temps in the mid 80s - low 90s across the Panhandles with overnight lows in the 60s. Monday night is when we start seeing our rain chances increase as the remnants of Hurricane Polo move over the SW states. This will increase our rain chances for Tuesday, and flash flooding would be the main concern. There are a lot of uncertainties with this evolving system, which means the forecast will change as we become more confident.

Tomorrow evening, there is a low potential for severe thunderstorms in eastern and southeastern combined Panhandles. Thunderstorms are most likely to occur in the afternoon and may last through the evening. Potential hazards include up to quarter sized hail and wind gusts up to 65mph.
