Extreme Fire Weather Concerns for the Western U.S.; Severe Weather and Flooding Threats for the Central U.S.

Extremely critical fire weather conditions are expected to develop across the Great Basin and Southwest today, and exceptionally dry and windy conditions will promote rapid wildfire spread through the weekend. Scattered severe thunderstorms and heavy rain are possible across parts of the Ozark Plateau into lower Ohio Valley and parts of the northern Rockies into adjacent Great Plains. Read More >

 

...National Safe Boating Week is May 22 through May 28...

The National Weather Service (NWS) has partnered with the
National Safe Boating Council, a NOAA Weather-Ready Nation
Ambassador to help promote safe boating practices. The Council
offers a wealth of free resources such as infographics, videos,
audio clips, fact sheets, social media and much more. These

During Safe Boating Week, NWS Caribou will produce daily Facebook
and Twitter posts. Saturday will focus on Cold Water Safety.
Sunday`s topic will be fire extinguishers as well as rip current
safety. Monday will feature life jackets. Tuesday`s posts will
discuss fog. Wednesday`s subject will be marine thunderstorms and
Thursday`s focus will be on hurricane preparedness. Friday`s topic
will be marine forecasts and what to do before you go out.
