In order to stay proficient with the WarnGen software (yesterday’s post) and to develop new skills, all NWS meteorologists are constantly in training. One of the ways we engage in training is to simulate past events using the Weather Event Simulator (WES). Here Jane Marie and Kevin are diagnosing severe weather and issuing warnings for a simulated past event on the WES, just as they would during a normal event. Staff also engage in other types of training as well, including written tests/reviews, online course training, seminars, and much more. We constantly strive to learn and grow in our skills and knowlege so that we can serve you better!
