Overview

Scattered thunderstorms developed across northern Illinois and northwest Indiana during the afternoon of Wednesday, June 24th and persisted through the evening.

The strongest storms produced localized wind damage, hail, and flooding. Concentrated areas of notable straight-line wind damage occurred in and near Streamwood, Bartlett, and Hanover Park, IL and also in and near Griffith and Merrillville, IN.

The storms also produced at least one brief tornado near Huntley, IL, where a video showed debris getting lofted and swirled around in the air near a narrow funnel cloud.
