Clear skies and cooler conditions await tonight with light southerly winds.
Other than some low clouds in the far southwest South Plains Wednesday morning, sunny and warm conditions will be the rule.
Mostly clear skies are expected tonight with light southeasterly winds.
Precipitation chances return Thursday ahead of a front. The weekend will dry out, however temperatures will slightly cool. Some areas on the Caprock may see highs in the upper 70s.

 

 

 

Local Weather History For October 15th...
1960: A rare late-morning tornado struck the Floydada airport at 11 AM destroying a small hangar and two aircraft. The
storm moved southeast and was accompanied by 3.31 inches of rain in just 50 minutes. The roar from the tornado was heard
one mile away. Editors note: the roar may have actually been from hail as earlier this same storm produced copious amounts
of hail that drifted to depths of 14 inches. This storm tracked from Muleshoe east-southeast to Floydada and was efficient
in producing hail damage to crops
