New record highs are likely today at both Lubbock and Childress.

A change in the upper level pattern will bring widespread rain chances and cooler temperatures for the latter half of next week. An upper level low is expected to swing through the Central Plains bringing lift and moisture to the region resulting in precipitation chances beginning Wednesday.

Mostly clear and cool night with lows in the 40s to 50.

Sunday will be cooler compared to recent days, although highs continue to remain above seasonal normal.

Cooler temperatures are expected next week. Change in the upper level patter will bring precipitation chances across the region beginning Wednesday and continue through Friday.

Local Weather History For November 15th...

1988: A very intense low pressure system ejecting out of the southern Rockies and across the Texas Panhandle brought
hurricane-force gradient winds to many locations this day over much of West Texas. Already by 7 AM, much of Bailey County
reported road signs being blown down. These winds continued east where in north Lubbock sustained high winds with gusts
measured up to 60 mph caused a 100-foot tall microwave tower to tumble and fall on several transmission lines. Power was
knocked out to five substations in north Lubbock for up to 40 minutes. Wind gusts measured up to 71 mph at the Plainview
Airport overturned a tractor-trailer rig 1/2 mile south of Hale Center on I-27. These winds also damaged vehicles, roofs,
trees and windows throughout much of Hale County. A driver of a tractor-trailer rig suffered minor injuries after his
truck was overturned by high winds three miles south of Hart. A grain bin two miles northeast of Hart collapsed by winds
estimated up to 80 mph. In Motley County, winds estimated over 80 mph tore through Matador shortly after 8 AM causing
major roof, tree and automobile damage. The Billy Deans Steakhouse was completely unroofed while 12 patrons were inside
