The Chikaskia River reached its highest level ever recorded on this
day in 2008 as widespread showers and thunderstorms spread across northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas. Homes and businesses were completely flooded with multiple roads closed all the way from Woodward to Kay County. As a result of the river flooding, 20 homes were completely destroyed and 14 homes reported major damage. Damage totals from the event reached $8 million. |
