Heavy Rainfall Continues in South Florida, Southern Rockies, and the Northern Plains

A stationary front will continue to bring heavy to excessive rainfall to South Florida into Saturday with localized and urban flooding possible. Heavy to excessive rainfall is forecast through Saturday over the southern Rockies into the northern Plains. Instances of flash flooding are possible, especially in higher terrain and burn scars. Certain portions of our area have seen abnormally dry conditions in recent weeks. It looks unlikely that all of those areas will receive rainfall this coming week.

Local Weather History For September 12th...
The Chikaskia River reached its highest level ever recorded on this
day in 2008 as widespread showers and thunderstorms spread across
northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas. Homes and businesses were
completely flooded with multiple roads closed all the way from
Woodward to Kay County. As a result of the river flooding, 20 homes
were completely destroyed and 14 homes reported major damage. Damage
totals from the event reached $8 million.
