Local Weather History For April 29th...
On April 29, 1985, a tornado damaged parts of Ardmore, injuring one
person. This tornado is unique in that it was the first tornado to be
probed by a ground-based instrument package. A crew from the National
Severe Storms Laboratory dropped the instrument package,
appropriately called TOTO, for Totable Tornado Observatory, into the
path of the storm to get accurate readings of conditions inside the
tornado.
