From June 24th through July 5th, 1980, Wichita Falls set record high
temperatures each day. Those records have yet to be exceeded. On 11 consecutive days during this period, the temperature rose to at least 110 degrees. Readings exceeded 113 degrees on seven days. During the entire summer, the temperature rose above 100 degrees on 79 days, which is second only to the year 2011 when the temperature reached 100 degrees on 100 days. |
