A prolonged, dangerous heat wave will persist through the Independence Day weekend across the Ohio Valley, Mid-South, and East Coast. Severe thunderstorms are expected to produce damaging wind gusts from the Upper Ohio Valley into the Mid Atlantic, and across the central Great Plains this afternoon and evening. Chuuk State is comprised of the collection of volcanic islands within the Chuuk Lagoon and some 24 outer-island atolls --some 290 islands total. Chuuk is the most populous of the FSM states, with 53,595 people (est. 2000) and a land area of 49 square miles.
