Furthermore, warm temperatures, strong winds and dry fuels may result in rapid spread of wild fires across the western High Plains today. Chuuk State is comprised of the collection of volcanic islands within the Chuuk Lagoon and some 24 outer-island atolls --some 290 islands total. Chuuk is the most populous of the FSM states, with 53,595 people (est. 2000) and a land area of 49 square miles. It is a world-famous location for SCUBA divers, with a sunken WWII Japanese fleet to explore.
