Severe Thunderstorms; Excessive Rainfall; Dangerous Heat; Air Quality Concerns and the Tropics

Wildfire smoke will push into the Midwest, worsening air quality. A frontal system brings severe storms from the Northern Plains to the Mid‑Atlantic the next few days. Heavy Gulf Coast rain is possible as Tropical Depression Two has formed, while monsoonal storms persist in the Southwest with heavy rainfall. A sunny and pleasant Sunday is expected.
After a couple benign and nice weather days, active weather will return Tuesday, with another system bringing multiple rounds of showers and storms. Damaging winds and flooding rains will again be a threat.
Additional severe storms are possible on Wednesday, with damaging wind gusts likely being the main threat. The greatest risk will be mainly southeast of I-95. Stay tuned for updates on Wednesday's severe thunderstorm risks as the forecast is refined in future updates.
