Dry showers and isolated storms quickly dissipating after sunset. Some mid to high level clouds linger overnight, especially across northern and west central NM with low temperatures slightly above seasonal normals.
Storms will increase in coverage on Wednesday afternoon, particularly across northeast NM behind a backdoor front where a few storms may become strong to severe. Storms will develop along east slopes of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains during the early afternoon, reaching the Texas and Oklahoma borders by the evening hours. Damaging wind gusts will be the main threat with these storms, but large hail is also possible.
An upper level disturbance moves over central NM Thursday with easterly surface flow and higher moisture along and east of the central mountain chain. Daytime heating will allow for widespread showers and storms during the afternoon and evening hours. A few storms could become strong to severe across eastern NM. Stay tuned for any possible updates to the SPC outlook for Thursday. Additionally, heavy rainfall from storms could result in burn scar flash flooding on the Hermits Peak Calf Canyon and McBride Burn Scars.
