Isolated showers and thunderstorms are forecast to develop over the western and northern mountains this afternoon. A few weak showers with mainly gusty winds and sprinkles could make it into the Rio Grande Valley and ABQ metro late this afternoon.

Storms will increase in coverage on Wednesday afternoon, particularly in the northeast and east-central plains where a few storms may become strong to severe. Storms will develop along the central mountain chain during the early afternoon, reaching the Texas border by the evening hours. Damaging wind gusts will be the main threat with these storms, but large hail is also possible.
