Snowy, Very Cold and Windy from the Northern Plains to Great Lakes; Critical Fire Weather in South Texas

Moderate to heavy lake effect snow is expected downwind of the Great Lakes, with the Chicago metro potentially receiving 6 to 12 inches of snowfall. A frigid airmass will bring very cold temperatures to the Central U.S. and Mississippi Valley today, migrating into the Eastern U.S. on Monday. Last Map Update: Sun, Nov 9, 2025 at 6:56:14 pm CST

Widespread freezing temperatures are expected tonight across the combined Panhandles. There is a potential for isolated areas to drop a few degrees cooler than the forecast. Not everyone will reach that lowest potential, and the coldest temperatures may not last for a long period of time. The lowest temperatures are expected just before and after sunrise, so don't forget those jackets and warm clothes in the morning!
As far as temperatures go, mid November will look very similar to what we've been seeing lately with above average temperatures expected. However, long range models are finally showing signs of moisture and precipitation potentially ramping back up as early as this weekend into next week with the arrival of stronger weather systems.
Warm afternoon temperatures in the 70s are expected to return for Tuesday afternoon.
