Showers and thunderstorms will begin to spread back across the area today through Saturday. Total likely rainfall amounts across the area will be about 1 inch however higher amounts of 2"+ are possible in isolated areas where thunderstorms stall.

There is a slight risk (level 2 of 4) for excessive rainfall over portions of north and central Georgia today. A moist environment aided by the stationary frontal boundary in place will allow for any storms that form today to have elevated rain rates that could lead to flash flooding concerns.

Wet conditions have led to improvement in drought conditions across north and central GA over the last week. While areas of D3-D4 drought continue to shrink across our area, below surface soils remain dry and rainfall totals through the last several months are below normal.
