Highs will remain in the 90s areawide into the weekend. While temperatures and heat index values will remain below advisory criteria, we are still running some 10 to 15 degrees above average for mid-September.
Long-range forecasts suggest continued heat into late September thanks to a persistent upper-level ridge and surface high pressure pattern. For most this would mean that high temperatures in the upper 80s to 90s aren’t going anywhere. Continue practicing heat safety if spending time outdoors during the hottest time of day.
