Heavy Rainfall and Severe Thunderstorm Threats for the Plains and Southeast

A frontal boundary extending from the western High Plains to the Southeast will focus additional showers and thunderstorms this weekend. Some of these storms may become severe, alongside frequent lightning, and isolated instances of flash flooding. Hot and dry with afternoon breezes remains the story as we head into the weekend. Very limited moisture, mainly across southern Apache County, will lead to some isolated storms this afternoon.
An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through Tuesday 7 PM MST for the lower elevations of the Grand Canyon.
Hot and dry weather is expected to continue into early next week. Even with some moisture expected around the middle of the week, daytime highs will be hot.
