Heavy Rainfall and Severe Thunderstorm Threats for the Plains and Southeast

A frontal boundary extending from the western High Plains to the Southeast will focus additional showers and thunderstorms this weekend. Some of these storms may become severe, alongside frequent lightning, and isolated instances of flash flooding. Hot daytime highs continue with little relief in sight. Chances for showers/storms across the White Mountains and may even extend up the Mogollon Rim. Storms will be high-based and most will be very light amounts. Much of the region will likely remain dry.
An Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect through Tuesday 7 PM MST for the lower elevations of the Grand Canyon.
