A severe thunderstorm moved across parts of Columbus and Pender counties early Thursday November 16, 2006. This storm spawned a strong F-3 tornado across Columbus county at Riegelwood. The tornado was responsible for 8 fatalities and 20 injuries, as well as 30 homes destroyed. The same storm spawned an F-1 tornado across parts of Pender county. Here is the official report released Friday afternoon...November 17, 2006.
