A Heat Advisory is in effect on Tuesday from 1 PM until 8 PM for the Rolling Plains and far southeast Texas Panhandle. Temperatures of 105-109° are likely. Limit time outdoors and stay hydrated.
Hot and dry today, with high temperatures near or into the triple digits on the Caprock, and reaching 105-109 off the Caprock. A Heat Advisory is in effect for areas off the Caprock. Southwest winds sustained around 10-15 mph, dry fuels, and minimum relative humidity around 15% will result in elevated fire conditions today.
High temperatures for today and Wednesday are forecast to be in the low 100s on the Caprock and between 105-109 off the Caprock. These temperatures are just a few degrees shy of the record highs. Limit time outdoors, and stay hydrated!
The prolonged heat continues to be the main story this week. Daily high temperatures will be near 100 on the Caprock, and in the mid 100s off the Caprock. Heat Advisories may be needed at times off the Caprock. While there are a few low rain chances each evening through Friday, most of the region will stay dry.
Above normal temperatures are likely to continue through the remainder of August (60-80% chance) and are favored to persist into the first week of September (40-50% chance). Normal high temperatures are in the upper 80s and low 90s, so expect the 90+ degree temperatures to continue for the foreseeable future.
A prolonged stretch of hot temperatures is expected this week and into next week. Follow these tips to stay safe during the heat, and visit weather.gov/safety/heat for more information.
