At Chicago, the average high temperature was 34.4 degrees, which is 2.2 degrees below normal. The average low temperature was 19.5 degrees, which is 4.9 degrees below normal. The mean average temperature for the month was 27.0 degrees, which is 3.5 degrees below normal. 2.07 inches of liquid precipitation were recorded, which is 0.04 inches below normal. 9.5 inches of snow were recorded, which is 1.9 inches above normal. No daily or top ten monthly records were set for Chicago during this past December. December 2025 was the first December since 2016 to have both below normal temperatures and above normal snowfall in Chicago. December 2016 finished with an average temperatures of 25.0 degrees, 5.5 degrees below normal. It had 17.7 inches of snow, 10.1 inches above normal for the month.
