June 2017 featured above normal temperatures on average, driven by a hot and dry first half of the month. Rainfall varied greatly, with well above normal amounts along and north of I-90 and from portions of east central Illinois into northwest Indiana south of the Kankakee River. Elsewhere, rainfall amounts for the month were near to below normal. The most impacting heavy rainfall event of the month occurred on June 28th, when 3-6" of rain fell during the evening hours across Winnebago and Boone counties, resulting in widespread extreme flash flooding
