Breezy, hot, and dry southwest winds on Saturday may lead to critical fire weather conditions areawide. A Fire Weather Watch is in effect on Saturday from noon until 8 PM.

The first day of spring promises more record heat under full sun with light winds. Highs will be in the mid 90s to low 100s, with lows tonight mostly in the 50s.

Other than a brief cooldown for Monday, the heat hangs on this weekend and for much of next week.

Very warm to even hot temperatures are forecast Thursday through Saturday, with triple-digit temperatures possible in the Rolling Plains by the end of the week. Know the signs of heat illness!

Local Weather History For March 20th...

1959: A terrific storm engulfed much of the Lone Star State this afternoon and evening complete with blowing dust up to
12,000 feet high at Midland, a blizzard in the TX Panhandle where up to ten inches of snow fell, and strong and severe
thunderstorms in east TX. The high winds in West TX damaged many roofs and outbuildings, broke plate glass windows, downed
trees, and damaged T V antennas. In the Panhandle of Texas, ferocious wind-driven snow blown along by winds gusting to 80
mph created a number of vehicle accidents.
