Severe chances return Monday with the greatest chances over the southern South Plains and Southern Rolling Plains. Large hail and strong wind gusts are possible with any thunderstorm development.

Heavy rain is forecast Monday night when 1 to 2 inches of rain, locally higher, is possible over much of the forecast area. Flooding will be possible which can be impossible to recognize at night.

Below normal temperatures continue today with highs in the 70s area wide. Southeasterly winds will ramp up this afternoon and are expected to continue over night.

Storm chances return this evening with a line of storms expected to develop along the TX/NM border and track east before dying near the I-27 corridor. Mostly cloudy skies will keep lows tonight in the upper 40s to mid 50s.

Moisture will increase across the area on Sunday with breezy southeasterly winds. Chances of thunderstorms will increase on the caprock on Sunday evening.

Local Weather History For May 4th...

2015 (5th-6th): Historic flooding from incredible rainfall totals of 6-12 inches occurred over central and southern Lynn
County this evening. Multiple rounds of slow-moving storms trained over the same areas of Lynn County with additional,
but lighter, rainfall continuing through the morning of the 5th. Nearly all roads in Lynn County were closed and the city
of Tahoka evacuated some residents and motorists to Lubbock and Brownfield. Schools in Tahoka were closed on the 5th as
many roads remained impassable from standing water. In Garza County near Southland, a child suffered a head injury after
the car it was in hyrdoplaned abruptly. Less severe flooding occurred elsewhere over the South Plains, including Lubbock.
Regionally, total damages to property and wheat crops could exceed $300M.
