Overview

A 3-day period was in place during late June with mainly ridging in control but enough moisture is present in the forecast area that it was enough for convection each afternoon for the 3 days. With some mid-level dry air in place and enough surface-based instability, the threat of a downburst becomes more likely. This was the case during a 3 days period when each afternoon, enough instability was present and downdraft convective available potential energy was over 1000 J/Kg every afternoon. This resulted in instances of wind damage across the area for 3 straight afternoons. Some of these down bursts can reach 60 mph as they reach the surface.
