Snow Squalls from the Upper Midwest to Great Lakes; High Winds in the Northern and Central Plains

An Arctic front will bring widespread snow squalls through Friday from the Upper Midwest to the Ohio Valley. Heavy snow rates and strong winds will lead to near-zero visibility and dangerous travel conditions. The following speakers will be on hand to educate residents of vulnerable communities about hurricane preparedness, and will be available for questions and interviews:

  • Dr. Rick Knabb, Director, National Hurricane Center
  • Daniel Brown, Hurricane Specialist, National Hurricane Center
  • Dr. David Novak, Director, NOAA/NWS/Weather Prediction Center
  • Jason Franklin, Meteorologist-in-Charge, National Weather Service Raleigh
  • Michael Sprayberry, Director, NC DPS - Emergency Management
  • Hurricane Hunter crew members from the US Air Force and NOAA.
  • In addition, staff from local emergency management offices, non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross, Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH), and personnel from the National Weather Service offices will be part of the team at each stop.

Event attendees are welcome to ask questions and engage the speakers about hurricane forecasting, preparedness and safety.
