Hurricane Erin continues to track northward. Tropical storm force winds, storm surge conditions will increase for the Outer Banks today and portions of coastal Virginia. A Heat Advisory will continue through today as heat index values once again climb to around 105 to 109 degrees. Please continue to use caution while outdoors.

A rare August cold front is expected to bring increasing showers and thunderstorms to the region today into tonight. A Marginal Risk for severe storms is highlighted for areas south of the I-30 corridor while the entire region is highlighted for excessive rainfall with localized flash flooding possible with heavy rain rates and training storms.

Another warm and muggy night is in store, as lows drop into the low to middle 70s. Showers and thunderstorms will continue into the evening, particularly south of the I-20 corridor.
