Severe thunderstorms will be capable of producing large hail and damaging winds over northern, central, and eastern areas this afternoon and evening. The greatest threat for severe storms will be across the east central plains and highlands.
Due to already saturated grounds and the threat for more heavy rainfall today, a Flash Flood Watch has been issued for portions of central and northwest NM.
Severe storms will favor eastern areas Thursday.
There is a lower probability of severe thunderstorms on Friday.
Locally heavier rainfall is likely. Most of the rain will fall today and tonight. Drier air will arrive on Thursday, when wetting precip will be focused over the southeast plains.
There will be a risk of severe thunderstorms over most of the forecast area this afternoon and evening, then over far eastern areas each afternoon and evening with thereafter.
The thunderstorm threat matrix indicates the probability of thunderstorms over wildfire burn areas.
