Warm to hot temperatures and breezy to windy conditions will continue on Saturday. There is a low to moderate risk of heat- related illness such as heat exhaustion and heat stroke, especially in Chaves county where triple digit high temperatures are forecast again.
Heat can escalate quickly. Heat is one of the most deadly weather hazards, so don't underestimate it!
Mild to warm overnight temperatures are forecast tonight with breezes subsiding this evening. Just a few mid to high level clouds are forecast overnight.
A cold front will push into northeastern New Mexico on Sunday, leading to the potential for showers and thunderstorms across the eastern plains, mainly late in the afternoon through the evening. A few storms will be capable of turning strong to severe with dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, hail, and gusty winds.
