Persistent onshore flow across the Southeast and portions of the mid-Atlantic will keep the risk of rip currents through the weekend. A strong tornado touched down southwest of Mesopotamia and moved east-northeast, passing north of Bloomfield. The tornado entered Ashtabula County south of Orwell at around 1630EST. The path of the storm was continuous and destroyed approximately 40 homes. Several cars, trucks and trailers were also destroyed. Many other homes and farm buildings sustained significant damage. The majority of injuries occurred to residents in the area. There may have also been many unreported injuries as the storm destroyed many Amish homes and they refuse medical treatment when possible.
