Hurricane Isaias continues to strengthen and is expected to make landfall late today. Conditions are expected to deteriorate tonight! Potential Impacts for North and Central Georgia include a long duration of strong wind gusts (35-45+ mph), heavy rainfall and localized flash/river flooding, and several tornadoes.

Hurricane Isaias will bring rounds of heavy rainfall to area late Friday through early Sunday. The locations most at risk for flash flooding are poor drainage and urban areas, as well as creeks and streams prone to rapid rises. Do not attempt to drive through water-covered roadways. Turn around and seek alternate routes. Exercise caution if you have outdoor plans, especially near rivers, creeks, or streams.

We are expecting long-duration strong winds beginning as early as around 11 PM Friday, likely lasting through early Sunday morning. Downed trees due to the strong winds and wet soils, as well as power outages are concerns.
