Widespread Rain from Texas to the Central Appalachians; Heavy to Excessive Rainfall in Southern California and the Southwest

Scattered thunderstorms and widespread showers are expected from the Texas coast to the central Appalachians today. Heavy to excessive rainfall will continue in southern California into the Desert Southwest through Saturday.  Winter 2016-2017 Events

  • March 12-15, 2017: Clipper event followed by heavy lake effect snow including into northeast Illinois.
  • December 16-18, 2016:  Two minor snow events, including a heavy lake effect snow band with 8+ inches into far northwest Indiana 
  • December 10-11, 2016:  Snow totals of 6-12 inches across northeastern Illinois
     
  • December 4, 2016:  Heavy wet snowfall for the first event of the season; largest December snowfall for Chicago O'Hare in 11 years
