Gusty Winds in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast; Atmospheric River to Impact the Northwest

Gusty winds are expected from portions of the Mid-Atlantic into the Northeast through the night following the system that brought rain to the area. An atmospheric river will move into the Northwest late today into Saturday bringing moderate to heavy rainfall, mountain snow, windy conditions, and high surf to the area over the weekend. On January 25th and 26th, 2021, a swath of snow fell from the central Plains to Lower Great Lakes. In our area, the highest snow totals were generally along and north of I-88, where roughly 6 to 8 inches of snow fell along a narrow zone from Lee County to Lake County (IL). Higher totals were noted across Wisconsin and Iowa with this system.
