Values of 3+ indicate a volatile atmosphere supportive of tornadoes. | Deep layer wind shear, a measure of the change of wind speed and direction with height. Values were in the 35 to 45 knot range, supportive of persistent rotating updrafts and storm organization. | Composite image showing 0-3 km wind shear (arrows) and near-surface instability (red contours).
